Carboniferous is a bizarre mixture of jazz, hardcore punk, sludge, math rock and god knows what else played by a drum / bass / saxophone trio. the bassist goes from heavy droning to insane Lightning Bolt-esque wailing and is definitely the highlight of the album. King Buzzo from the Melvins and Mike Patton (though i personally dislike the latter) make a couple cameos as well.
